During the flight an AEROCONTROL INS system measures
the coordinates and orientation parameters for each
photograph.
After post-processing with GPS
data from a ground based receiver an accuracy of less
than 10cm can be achieved. The distance from the GPS
antenna on the aircraft to the camera is compensated
for to obtain the 6 parameters for the centre of the
photos. These exterior orientation parameters are
suitable to directly geo-reference the photographs
in a digital orthophoto production.
Use of the INS system reduces
the delivery times for the end product dramatically.
